Article Summary

Lover’s Beach, nestled at Cabo’s southern tip, is accessible only by water and admired from boat tours. Though landing is not allowed, sailing, snorkeling, and sunset cruises offer stunning views of El Arco, Land’s End, and the secluded beach. Cabo Adventures provides safe, scenic experiences, letting visitors enjoy Cabo’s natural beauty thoughtfully and comfortably.

At the southernmost edge of Baja California Sur, where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific Ocean, lies one of Cabo’s most breathtaking landmarks, Lover’s Beach (Playa del Amor). Cradled by towering cliffs and fronted by golden sand, this remote stretch is flanked by the iconic Arch of Cabo San Lucas (El Arco), making it one of the most photographed places in all of Los Cabos.

Accessible only by water, the journey to view this beach becomes part of the experience itself. While tours do not disembark at Lover’s Beach, many Cabo Adventures excursions cruise past it, offering incredible views and photo opportunities. From the shifting shades of the sea to the towering rock formations at Land’s End, Cabo Adventures provides some of the best ways to take it all in, thoughtfully, comfortably, and without the crowds.

1. Take in the Scenery on a Coastal Sail

Sail into romance on Cabo’s turquoise waters, enjoying unforgettable moments aboard a luxury yacht.

One of the most relaxing ways to experience Cabo’s landscape is from the water. Aboard a sailboat or catamaran, you’ll drift past some of the region’s most iconic sights, including the Arch, Land’s End, and the secluded shoreline of Lover’s Beach. While there’s no disembarkation at the beach itself, the views from the boat offer a unique vantage point of this dramatic stretch of coastline.

The luxury sailing tour includes time to anchor in a calm bay like Santa María, where guests can snorkel, paddleboard, or simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Along the way, you might spot sea turtles, rays, or dolphins moving through the water. It’s a quiet, scenic way to get a feel for Cabo’s natural rhythms, without rushing to tick off every landmark. Book a Luxury Sailing Experience.

2. Snorkel in Crystal-Clear Waters

While Lover’s Beach looks tempting for snorkeling, the currents and regulations make it unsuitable for that activity. Instead, the Cabo Snorkel & Land’s End Arch Tour offers a thrilling, family-friendly alternative that lets you admire the beach from the water, then whisks you to Chileno Bay, Santa María Bay, or Pelican Rock for safe and unforgettable underwater adventures.

Hop aboard a high-speed boat for an exciting ride past Cabo’s legendary Arch, sea lion colony, and Lover’s Beach, before anchoring in some of the region’s best snorkeling spots. Dive in with snorkel gear or a sea scooter, or explore from above with stand-up paddleboards and kayaks. These clear, calm waters are home to rays, sea turtles, and schools of tropical fish. Whether you’re new to snorkeling or a seasoned explorer, this tour blends marine thrills with unbeatable views, without ever needing to set foot on Lover’s Beach.

3. Get Up Close to the Arch of Cabo San Lucas

Sail and paddleboard in Cabo’s calm waters, surrounded by scenic cliffs and golden beaches.

Towering at the southernmost tip of Baja, El Arco marks the dramatic meeting point of the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean. It’s one of Cabo’s most photographed landmarks and seeing it by water is the best way to appreciate its scale and beauty. From the boat, you’ll also spot the nearby sea lion colony and the golden stretch of Lover’s Beach tucked between towering cliffs.

The Luxury Two-Bay Snorkel Tour provides front-row views of this iconic formation without disembarking. You'll cruise gently past Land’s End aboard a sleek French-made catamaran before heading out to explore two swimmable bays, where marine life thrives beneath the surface. It's a peaceful and visually stunning way to witness Cabo’s rugged coastal beauty and connect with its natural rhythms, no need to dock or leave the boat.

4. Enjoy the View of Lover’s Beach from the Water

Lover’s Beach is one of the most photographed spots in Cabo, but it’s also one of the most secluded. Nestled between dramatic cliffs at Land’s End, it’s only accessible by panga—a small, local boat. For that reason, access to the beach itself isn’t available on guided tours, including those by catamaran or speedboat.

Still, the view from the water offers its own kind of magic. As you sail past, you’ll see the golden sand framed by the Sea of Cortez on one side and the powerful Pacific on the other. This quiet stretch, often empty, feels like a hidden world carved into the coastline. It's a peaceful pause in the journey, an opportunity to slow down and take in the raw beauty of Cabo’s southernmost point, even if only from a distance.

5. Add Some Adrenaline With a Jet Ski Ride

Feel the adrenaline of jet skiing across Cabo’s crystal-clear waters and stunning coastal views.

Jet skiing offers a fast-paced way to explore the waters around Cabo, especially for those looking to balance relaxation with a burst of energy. While this activity doesn’t pass by Lover’s Beach or the Arch, it takes you along the lively stretch of Medano Beach and through Cabo San Lucas Bay, offering wide views of the marina, resorts, and surrounding mountains.

Guided tours help riders navigate safely and enjoy the best open-water routes. Whether you're zipping past anchored sailboats or pausing to take in the views, the experience brings a different kind of connection to Cabo’s coastline, one that’s all about movement, wind, and the thrill of being out on the open sea.

For those who like their beach days with a shot of excitement, jet skiing around the coastline adds a rush of energy to the Lover’s Beach experience. Skim across the turquoise waters, take in the scenery at your own pace, and see landmarks like El Arco, Pelican Rock, and the beach itself from a thrilling new angle. 6. Watch the Sun Set Over Cabo’s Coastline

Evenings in Cabo bring a different kind of beauty, one shaped by shifting light, calm seas, and the golden glow of the setting sun. Aboard a sailboat or catamaran, you can take it all in while gliding past familiar landmarks like El Arco, Land’s End, and Lover’s Beach, which appear especially striking in silhouette.

The Luxury Cabo Sunset Cruise is a peaceful two-and-a-half-hour journey designed around this daily spectacle. There’s no disembarking along the way; instead, the experience is all about enjoying the view, the breeze, and the colors that gradually shift from amber to deep indigo. With a small group onboard, it feels personal, whether you're sharing the moment with a partner, friends, or simply enjoying the stillness on your own.

7. Paddleboard in the Calm Waters of Santa María Bay

Enjoy paddleboarding in Cabo’s turquoise waters, surrounded by golden cliffs and serene beaches.

Paddle boarding is a peaceful, active way to connect with the water and Cabo’s coastal bays offer ideal conditions to try it. While it’s not possible to paddleboard at Lover’s Beach, the Luxury Cabo Sailing Tour includes time in Santa María Bay, a tranquil, protected spot known for its clear water and gentle currents.

After sailing past the Arch, Land’s End, and Lover’s Beach for sightseeing and photos, the tour anchors in this calm bay. Here, guests can glide across the surface on stand-up paddleboards, take a swim, or simply float and take in the quiet scenery. It’s a refreshing change of pace from the busy beaches closer to town, and a nice way to experience the coastline from a different point of view, without the crowds or commotion.

For a fun, active way to explore the area, book a tour that includes paddle boards and enjoy Lover’s Beach from a whole new angle. You’ll launch directly from the boat into calm, clear waters, perfect for paddling around the iconic rock formations and spotting marine life just below the surface.

When Is the Best Time to Visit Lover’s Beach?

Lover’s Beach is beautiful year-round, but the best time to visit depends on what you’re looking for. December to April is ideal for spotting migrating whales and enjoying cooler, drier weather. May to June offers warm water and fewer crowds, while July to October brings the hottest temps and higher humidity, plus a chance of afternoon rain.

If you’re planning to swim or snorkel, check the day’s conditions. The Sea of Cortez side is often calm, but strong currents can pop up depending on the weather and tides.

What to Know Before Visiting Lover’s Beach

Discover Lover’s Beach, a hidden paradise in Cabo where golden sand meets turquoise waters.

Lover’s Beach is only accessible by a small water taxi known locally as a panga. It’s a remote stretch of sand without shops, restaurants, or facilities and it’s not included as a landing point on any of our tours. While we cruise past Lover’s Beach on our sailing and snorkeling tours, guests remain on board and enjoy views from the water rather than stepping ashore.

If you do choose to visit Lover’s Beach independently via panga, be prepared to bring any essentials with you. There are no services on the beach, so packing light but smart is key.

Helpful items include:

  • Swimsuit and towel
  • Reef-safe sunscreen
  • Water shoes or sandals (the sand heats up quickly)
  • A dry bag or zip-top bag for phones and valuables.

Always check the day's sea conditions before making independent arrangements, and keep in mind that the Pacific side of the beach (Divorce Beach) is not safe for swimming due to strong currents.
