When you visit Cabo San Lucas, you are immersed in not only the beauty of the southernmost tip of Baja California, but also in the sights, tastes and culture of Mexico! We’ve compiled a list of Cabo San Lucas events that includes many of the fascinating cultural events, fun holidays, sporting events and festivals for every conceivable interest that take place in and around Cabo each year.

As you plan your vacation, feel free to refer to this list of Cabo San Lucas events. It is by no means exhaustive - there are more events in Cabo each season than we can list here! But we hope this calendar will nevertheless help you get everything you want to out of your upcoming visit.

JANUARY

January - Lord of the Wind

In Los Barriles, just north of the Los Cabos airport, athletes gather every January to take advantage of the ocean winds for a kiteboarding, foil, and windsurfing competition. If you’re traveling Baja California at the beginning of the year, this is one of the special events in Los Cabos that’s mesmerizing to watch as colorful kites pull riders over the waves.

 

FEBRUARY

February - Todos Santos Art Festival

For over 20 years, the Todos Santos Art Festival has been showcasing both traditional and modern Mexican artworks, and if you visit the festival, you’ll also hear live music and watch spectacular dance performances. This is one of the most highly-anticipated Cabo San Lucas upcoming events for those who want to immerse themselves in the local culture. MARCH

March - Los Cabos Half Marathon

Covering 13.1 miles of scenic Cabo, the half marathon race on March 6 is one of the most unique ways to tour the city. There’s also a 10k and 5k race, so even if you haven’t been training, it’s one of the most exciting things to do in Cabo San Lucas as other travelers and locals cheer you on.

March - Festival of San Jose Del Cabo

In the middle of March, two weeks are set aside in San Jose del Cabo to celebrate the city’s patron saint: San Jose, or Saint Joseph. During this time, the streets are filled with music and dance performances, and local vendors will be selling traditional Mexican food, drinks, and locally-made crafts. March 24 to 30 - Holly Week -Semana Santa

For many travelers, Semana Santa, or spring break, is the highlight of the Cabo event calendar, and with time off from school and work for the Easter holiday, it’s the ideal time for a beach vacation. While these two weeks will be busy in the tourist destination, there will be plenty of special events and parties during the holidays. MAY

The surf season in the Sea of Cortez kicks off this month.

May - Cinco de Mayo

While the victory at the Battle of Puebla on May 5 isn’t commonly celebrated throughout Mexico, it’s become a way for the Mexican diaspora to connect with their heritage, making it a popular celebration in the United States. Because Los Cabos is such an international destination, the Cinco de Mayo 2024 events will include cultural performances, buffets of traditional Mexican food, and plenty of icy margaritas.

 

JUNE

June - The Los Cabos Open of Surf

The coasts of Baja California are surf meccas, enticing travelers from around the world into the water. In June, they all make their way to Costa Azul’s famous Zippers Beach Break for friendly competition with a live music festival. Heading out to watch the pros and have lunch on the beach is one of the best things to do in Cabo San Lucas in the summer.

June 22-28 - The Stars & Stripes Fishing & Golf Tournament

A family-friendly tournament, this annual charitable event has great fishing, fun golf, amazing food and nightly entertainment. In the past, tournament proceeds have been given to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County, the Boy Scouts of America Los Angeles Area Council, Miracles for Kids and Orangewood Children’s Foundation.

June 23 - Fiesta de la Musica

On the summer solstice each year, you can enjoy some of the finest music under the beautiful Mexican sky in what can only be described as a true celebration of sound.

 

JULY

Turtle nesting season begins in Los Cabos

July - East Cape Dorado Shoot Out

No Cabo event calendar would be complete without mentioning one of the famous fishing tournaments that take place in the destination. The fishing tournament 2024 events kick off on July 16 with the East Cape Dorado Shoot Out, and whether you’re on a competing team or watching the catches get hauled into the marina, the energy of these tournaments is invigorating.

 

AUGUST

August - Los Cabos Open Tennis

The month of August begins with six days of international tennis matches between some of the world’s top-ranked players. Watching these elite matches during the Los Cabos Open Tennis is absolutely astounding, and it may just inspire you to pick up a racket on your Cabo vacation.



SEPTEMBER

Scuba conditions are ideal for diving in the Sea of Cortez

September 15/16 - Independence Eve & Mexican Independence Day (Fiestas Patrias)

It’s a wonderful time to visit Cabo because people celebrate all month long! If you’re here for the famous Independence Eve celebrations on the 15th you’ll hear cries of “Viva Mexico,” listen to amazing music and gaze in awe at amazing firework displays. The revelry continues on the 16th, with parades, more fireworks, dancing and lots of fun!

 

OCTOBER

Bird nesting season at the San Jose del Cabo Estuary

October - Los Cabos Bisbee’s International Black & Blue Tournament

Several of the Cabo San Lucas upcoming events are massive fishing tournaments, but there’s nothing like a Bisbee’s tournament. Their Black & Blue Tournament on October 25-29 is a lively festival, and this competition regularly has the world’s biggest cash prizes.

 

NOVEMBER

  • Surf season on the Pacific side of Los Cabos begins
  • Wind sports begin picking up
  • The whale shark migration season begins
  • The Los Cabos Organic Market kicks off, promoting organic agriculture, arts and crafts, music, and more

November 2 - Day of the Dead (Día de Los Muertos)

Movies and TV have brought this important Mexican holiday into homes across the globe. In Cabo San Lucas, the bright altars for departed ancestors that are the hallmark of this celebration are displayed in the town’s main square of Plaza Amelia Wilkes.



DECEMBER

Whale migrations can be seen from Los Cabos

31 December - New Year’s Eve Fireworks

The sky explodes over Médano Beach to welcome in the new year with a brilliant firework display that can be seen from all the nearby clubs, restaurants, resorts and of course, the beach itself.
