We’ve compiled a list of Cabo San Lucas events that includes many of the fascinating cultural events, fun holidays, sporting events and festivals for every conceivable interest that take place in and around Cabo each year.

As you plan your vacation, feel free to refer to this list of Cabo San Lucas events. It is by no means exhaustive - there are more events in Cabo each season than we can list here! But we hope this calendar will nevertheless help you get everything you want to out of your upcoming visit.

JANUARY

January 1 - The Todos Santos Music Festival

This fantastic music festival was founded by Peter Buck of R.E.M. to benefit the Palapa Society of Todos Santos, which develops educational and environmental programs for children. 

 

FEBRUARY

February 12 - The Los Cabos Half Marathon

Runners come from all over to complete this incredible route, which features plenty of natural beauty along with the interesting sights of San Jose del Cabo´s historical downtown and the Puerto Los Cabos Marina.

February 16/17 - San José Jazz Festival Weekend at Plaza El Pescador

Jazz lovers won’t want to miss this weekend of arts, culture and of course, brilliant jazz performances by musicians in a beautiful open air performance space.

February 21 - The Todos Santos Art Festival

This extremely popular art festival was once a hidden gem but now attracts artists, musicians and filmmakers who come to showcase their best work in front of an international audience.



MARCH

March 1-7 - The Todos Santos Film Festival

This annual film festival held in Todos Santos and La Paz features a week of films chosen as representatives of the diversity and excellence of Latino cinema.

March 1-14 - San Jose Del Cabo’s Fiestas Tradicionales

This two-week festival held in honor of patron saint San Jose draws thousands of locals and visitors each year. There’s a lot to explore, from food to art to performances so it’s a wonderful time to visit!

March 10-25 - Festival Del Queso & Vino (Cheese & Wine Festival)

If you’re a wine lover, plan your trip around this delicious event that showcases the best vintages from far and wide in a multi-day event benefiting the Fundación Sarahuaro.



APRIL

April 28 - Los Cabos Open Water

An international competition that takes place off the coast of San Jose del Cabo each year, Los Cabos Open Water is a series of high-intensity swim races that start and finish at the Palmilla Beach next to Costa Azul.

 

MAY

The surf season in the Sea of Cortez kicks off this month.

May 1-4 - Los Cabos Mercedes Trophy Golf Tournament

Golfers come to Cabo to participate in the Mercedes-Benz Trophy tournament, which attracts 50,000 golfers worldwide and culminates in the final in Stuttgart, Germany.

May 3 - The Cabo Marine Show

Over 4,000 visitors flock to Cabo for this exhibition of Mexico’s marine industry, which features more than just boats. There’s also music, activities and plenty for boat lovers to see and do.

May 5 - Gastrovina Baja Food & Wine Festival

Experience the most delicious cuisine and best wines of Baja at this festival for a cause. Proceeds are used to provide housing, care, and education to Todos Santos’ isolated ranchero families.

 

JUNE

June 6 - The Los Cabos Open of Surf

Surf and music enthusiasts shouldn’t miss this event, which is one of the biggest surf and music festivals in Latin America. It takes place along Costa Azul's famous Zippers Beach Break, where big waves and heavy surf make for thrilling competition.

June 22-28 - The Stars & Stripes Fishing & Golf Tournament

A family-friendly tournament, this annual charitable event has great fishing, fun golf, amazing food and nightly entertainment. In the past, tournament proceeds have been given to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County, the Boy Scouts of America Los Angeles Area Council, Miracles for Kids and Orangewood Children’s Foundation.

June 23 - Fiesta de la Musica

On the summer solstice each year, you can enjoy some of the finest music under the beautiful Mexican sky in what can only be described as a true celebration of sound.

June 30 - Gala de Danza

The world’s most renowned dancers come to Cabo to showcase their work on the Pabellon Cultural Theater’s stage in Cabo San Lucas. The performances include everything from classical ballet to contemporary Latin dance.

 

JULY

Turtle nesting season begins in Los Cabos

July 15 - The East Cape Dorado Shootout

This is the biggest fishing tournament in Southern Baja. Each year, more than 130 teams come to the fabulous Hotel Palmas de Cortez in Baja’s East Cape to reel in the biggest and most fantastic fish.

July 23-28 - Festival del Mango Todos Santos

It’s a cultural festival celebrating ripe, juicy mangoes… but that’s not all! Crowds come for the dancing, the polka bands, a horse parade, an array of artisanal products to sample and a celebration of San Ignacio.


AUGUST

August 1 - The East Cape Bisbee Tournament

Anglers from all around the world come to the East Cape each year for the first of three Bisbee tournaments in Mexico. They compete to catch the biggest billfish, winning large cash prizes in the process.



SEPTEMBER

Scuba conditions are ideal for diving in the Sea of Cortez

September 15/16 - Independence Eve & Mexican Independence Day (Fiestas Patrias)

It’s a wonderful time to visit Cabo because people celebrate all month long! If you’re here for the famous Independence Eve celebrations on the 15th you’ll hear cries of “Viva Mexico,” listen to amazing music and gaze in awe at amazing firework displays. The revelry continues on the 16th, with parades, more fireworks, dancing and lots of fun!

 

OCTOBER

Bird nesting season at the San Jose del Cabo Estuary

October 1 - The Cabo Comedy Festival

Enjoy hours of laughter at this annual multi-day charitable event featuring comedians of all stripes! A portion of the proceeds benefits DIF Los Cabos, a children’s charity that supports families in need.

October 15 - The Los Cabos Billfish Tournament

Big game anglers bring their boats to Cabo for this world-renowned fishing tournament. For fishing enthusiasts, there’s a lot to see!

October 19 - Bisbee’s Los Cabos Offshore Tournament

For two days, skilled anglers compete to catch record-breaking fish - and for big cash prizes - in an exciting two-day exhibition that combines skill and luck.

October 24 - Bisbee’s International Black & Blue Tournament

This fishing competition in Cabo is sometimes called the “world’s richest billfish tournament” for the size of the fish and the size of its pot: $4 million. Big fish abound here but the competition is notably fierce.

October 26 - The Fiestas Tradicionales Cabo San Lucas

An annual two-week long festival held in honor of patron saint San Lucas, this fiestas tradicionales features music, delicious food, a carnival and the crowning of the year’s beauty queen.

October 29 - Los Cabos Gran Fondo

Are you a bike enthusiast? Then you won’t want to miss this mass riding event that attracts cyclists of all levels from around the world.

October 29 - Baja Ha-Ha Cruisers Rally

Love sailing? Cruise down the coast in this two-week cruisers rally from San Diego to Cabo and see amazing wildlife and lush scenery along the way.

 

NOVEMBER

  • Surf season on the Pacific side of Los Cabos begins
  • Wind sports begin picking up
  • The whale shark migration season begins
  • The Los Cabos Organic Market kicks off, promoting organic agriculture, arts and crafts, music, and more

November 1 - The San Jose del Cabo Art Walks

Every Thursday evening until June, the art galleries in San Jose del Cabo throw open their doors and invite people to sip a glass of wine and browse the art. Many neighborhood restaurants and bars also offer specials.

November 2 - Day of the Dead (Día de Los Muertos)

Movies and TV have brought this important Mexican holiday into homes across the globe. In Cabo San Lucas, the bright altars for departed ancestors that are the hallmark of this celebration are displayed in the town’s main square of Plaza Amelia Wilkes.

November 4-12 - Ironman

Athletes in their prime come to Cabos San Lucas each year to plunge into the Sea of Cortez for a 2.4-mile swim before climbing onto a bike to traverse a 112-mile course and then completing a 26.2-mile run that travels along a 20-mile corridor between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo.

November 7 - Los Cabos International Film Festival

One of the most outstanding cultural events in Mexico, this film festival now attracts internationally known directors, actors, and producers. It is certain to become one of the major international film festivals within the next few years.



DECEMBER

Whale migrations can be seen from Los Cabos

December 1 - The Sabor a Cabo Festival Canirac

Foodies take note! The Flavors of Cabo is an international gourmet event organized by the restaurant association Canirac showcasing the skills of the food and wine entrepreneurs and chefs of the area.

31 December - New Year’s Eve Fireworks

The sky explodes over Médano Beach to welcome in the new year with a brilliant firework display that can be seen from all the nearby clubs, restaurants, resorts and of course, the beach itself.
