Get up close and personal with a bottlenose dolphin on this family friendly tour! After your hotel pick-up in one of our air-conditioned vehicles, you’ll arrive at one of our dolphin facilities, either in Cabo San Lucas or San Jose del Cabo. Upon arrival, for 20 wonderful minutes, you will discover so much about the Pacific bottlenose from the best possible teacher—one of our own cheerful dolphins.

While interacting with your new dolphin friend alongside one of our passionate trainers, you’ll be led through games and activities in our shallow saltwater dolphin habitat. As part of the experience, you’ll learn about dolphin anatomy, their favorite treats, and how they live in the wild. Whether an experienced swimmer or new to the water, this dolphin encounter will create lasting memories for you and your family. Your visit with one of our friendly dolphins will end with a slippery dolphin smooch.

The Dolphin Encounter in Cabo for All Ages

Our knowledgeable specialists will watch over your group and guide you as you bond with a Pacific bottlenose through touch, talk, and play. Children as young as one can give a dolphin’s slippery skin a rubdown and shake a flipper in this encounter with dolphins, and older kids and grownups can even hug and play games with our dolphins.

Our dolphin adventure begins with a short poolside introduction to our family of dolphins. The trainers overseeing your encounter will tell you all about the Pacific bottlenose’s unique behaviors, fascinating anatomy, social lives, and history with humans. From there, you’ll be able to connect with dolphins as you slide into the shallow platform where a dolphin will be waiting for you to introduce yourself so you can have some fun with each other.

Communicate Directly with the Dolphins

As part of this adventure, a specialist will show you how to talk to a dolphin using the same hand signals used by professional dolphin trainers. From the comfort of our shallow-water platform, you’ll be able to concentrate on communicating with a member of another species—which is a truly magical experience. You’ll discover that these curious creatures are just as interested in communicating with you as you are with them. As you talk to your dolphin, you will feel the warmth and sense the intelligence of what may just be the ocean’s friendliest creatures.

Forge an Important Connection with a Bottlenose

Humans are making such a big impact on dolphin habitats and the only way to counteract that is with knowledge. People go on out exploring the pacific coast along clearwater beach in Mexico without really understanding the impact they’re having on the wildlife around them. Because these animals are so smart, friendly, and fun, they’re the perfect ambassadors of the ocean. Cabo dolphins give people a chance to interact closely with dolphins, and those who feel a bond with a bottlenose want to keep our oceans healthy and do everything possible to protect marine life around the world. Our dolphin adventure tours have even inspired young people to become marine biologists.

Our Dolphins’ Wellbeing Is Our Focus

At Cabo Adventures, our family of dolphins spends no more than two hours per day interacting with our visitors so they can enjoy plenty of downtime. The Dolphin Encounter is short so we can be sure our dolphins have plenty of time to socialize with one another, play freely and relax in a private and fun environment. They also work with trainers daily (an important part of their enrichment), get regular checkups and eat a specially curated diet.

Overall, we provide an exceptionally clean and stimulating environment for them to live and thrive in, while providing a safe and stable setting for their social community (pods) and family to reproduce and grow. For more information about why we take care of our animals so seriously, please click through to our Corporate Responsibility page.

The American Humane Association has granted Cabo Dolphins the Humane Conservation certification, which recognizes the high standards we follow in the care of our dolphins.

FAQ

Do I need to reserve in advance?
Yes please reserve in advance to ensure availability - especially during the holidays.
May I bring a camera or video camera to take pictures?
Cameras are only allowed in the observation areas they are not allowed into the pools. However we offer professional photos that are available for purchase after your experience.
Can I wear sunscreen (SPF)?
Sunscreen contains harmful chemicals and/or oils that accumulate in the tissues of marine species which can then be transferred to their young. To ensure the safety of our dolphins please refrain from using sunscreen and instead use sun-protective clothing.
Can I wear jewelry?
For the safety and well-being of our dolphins the use of jewlery is not permitted. We do provide areas to secure your personal belongings however it is recommended you leave all jewelry and small items in your hotel.
Why do you limit the number of sessions for people to interact with the animals?
Our animals’ health and welfare are of the utmost importance so we limit each session. These incredible animals spend less than two hours each day interacting with the public. The rest of the day is allocated to their private valuable training time as well as for play and social interaction.
How safe are Interactive Programs?
Our programs have a remarkable and well-established safety record. The health and safety records of these kinds of programs have been continuously studied for over 20 years each time reaffirming their impeccable records.
Can I make an animal sick if I participate in a swim program?
No you cannot. Since the beginning of in-water marine mammal interactive programs in 1985 there have not been any instances of disease transmission between humans and these animals reported at any facility.
Can special needs visitors participate in your dolphin programs?
We do our best in trying to provide this experience to everyone although it is not always possible. Before making a reservation please talk to one of our representatives so they can better inform you.
How do you care for your animals?
At our centers we follow a program for preventative health care including daily health assessments regular voluntary veterinary examinations and dietary needs assessments. We continually provide an exceptionally clean and stimulating environment for them to live and thrive in while providing a safe and stable setting for their social community (pods) and family to reproduce and grow.
