Summer in Cabo is one of those travel secrets we love sharing with visitors willing to look beyond peak season.
While most travelers arrive between November and April for cooler weather and whale watching, the warmer months deliver their own rewards: the Sea of Cortez at its warmest, marine life at its most active, and a pace that lets you actually get to know the place.
Summer calls for a different kind of planning. Here's what we recommend to make the most of it.
Cabo Summer Weather Month by Month
Not all summer months in Los Cabos feel the same. Understanding the differences helps you pick the right window.
June is the sweet spot for early summer travel. Rainfall is minimal, humidity stays moderate, and coastal highs are comfortable. Skies are clear, hurricane risk is low, and the summer pace hasn't picked up yet.
July brings warmer water and slightly more heat. Expect a handful of brief rain showers, with humidity climbing a bit. This is when the Sea of Cortez reaches a turning point for swimmers and snorkelers. Still mostly dry and sunny.
August is the hottest month, with the first noticeable rainfall, mostly in short afternoon showers. But the water is at its warmest, and sea turtle nesting season hits its stride along Baja's beaches.
September brings the most rain of the summer, along with the season's highest hurricane risk. It's also when availability for activities opens up, a practical tradeoff that often pays off with warm water, dramatic skies, and a quieter destination.
October is where summer's rewards linger without its tradeoffs. Rain tapers off, humidity eases, and the Sea of Cortez stays notably warm. Summer warmth without the afternoon showers.

Summer Snorkeling in the Sea of Cortez
Water temperature is a compelling reason to visit Cabo in summer. The Sea of Cortez reaches comfortable swimming temperatures, warm enough to snorkel for hours without a wetsuit.
Jacques Cousteau helped make the Sea of Cortez famous as the "World's Aquarium," and summer is when that name is most accurate. Warm water draws in manta rays, mobula rays, sea turtles feeding near shore, and dense schools of tropical reef fish.
The protected coves along the Los Cabos Corridor (connecting Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo) offer calm, clear conditions throughout the summer. Chileno Bay and Santa María Bay are two of our favorites.
Our Luxury Two-Bay Snorkel is the easiest way to experience both bays in one trip. We handle the logistics (catamaran, equipment, paddleboarding, an open bar, and lunch on deck) so you just show up and enjoy the water.
Sea Turtle Nesting Season in Los Cabos
Female Olive Ridley and Leatherback sea turtles begin arriving on Baja's beaches in late July to lay their eggs, with nesting peaking between August and October. After several weeks of incubation, hatchlings emerge. Late August through November is the window for witnessing baby turtles making their first journey to the sea.
This is the one major wildlife moment in Los Cabos that belongs exclusively to summer. Our conservation team patrols beaches, relocates nests, and facilitates safe releases, and we welcome travelers who want to be part of that work.
Sailing Past the Arch and Along the Cabo Coastline
The Arch of Cabo San Lucas is the iconic rock formation at the southern tip of the Baja Peninsula. Nearby, Lover's Beach sits where the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez meet. Sea lions rest on the surrounding rocks, and the formations are especially striking in the morning light.
Onboard one of our catamarans or sailboats, you'll glide past both landmarks with everything taken care of: appetizers, cocktails on deck, and crew managing every detail. Once anchored in a quiet bay, guests can swim, float under the sun, or take in the coastline.
Our sunset sail offers a quieter evening option. The sky shifts through warm oranges and deep violets as the sun drops behind the Pacific, paired with hors d'oeuvres and wine.

Art Districts and Local Markets in Cabo
To get a feel for everyday life in Cabo, start your morning at the Mercado Orgánico or the Mercado Municipal in Cabo San Lucas, where locals sell everything from sun-ripened mangoes and handwoven baskets to fragrant herbs and painted ceramics.
Our city tours through San José del Cabo, the quieter, more historic town a short drive east, are best in cooler morning hours. We handle transportation and guide the route.
San José del Cabo's art district stays active well past the official Art Walk season, which wraps in June. Cobblestone streets remain alive with color and creativity. Grab a paleta from a street vendor, slip into a courtyard gallery, and admire artisan work beneath fluttering papel picado flags.

ATV, E-Bike, and Zipline Adventures in the Baja Desert
The Baja desert is one of the most striking landscapes in Los Cabos: vast canyons, cactus-covered hills, and Pacific coastline stretching to the horizon.
Our ATV Desert Adventure at Tierra Sagrada ranch, located inland from the coast, is built for summer timing. The Snake Sandy Circuit winds through dramatic canyon terrain with panoramic views, and the ride works for both beginners and experienced riders. All safety gear is provided.
It ends with a sunset campfire, a traditional Mexican buffet, and a tequila tasting as the stars come out over the Pacific.
For pure adrenaline, our zipline experience in the Boca de la Sierra Natural Reserve launches you across cliffs and desert slopes on a "Superman" line, followed by rappelling, hanging bridges, and an off-road UTV ride.
Camel Rides Along the Pacific Shoreline
This safari-style experience leads you through quiet desert trails on the Pacific side of the peninsula before bringing you to the water's edge for a coastal ride atop a well-cared-for camel. The experience includes a guided nature walk and shaded rest areas to cool off post-ride.

Balandra Bay Near La Paz
Balandra Bay, near La Paz, north of Cabo, is one of Mexico's most serene beaches. This protected cove has calm, shallow waters and white sands, with knee-deep water extending far from shore, ideal for families with young children. Snorkel among schools of fish, paddle quiet coves in kayaks, and enjoy a fresh lunch onboard between dips.
Swimming with Dolphins in Cabo
Swimming with dolphins at our specially designed saltwater facility is one of those experiences that becomes the highlight of a trip. Kids ride belly-to-belly with a dolphin, adults learn about their social behaviors from our marine team, and everyone leaves with a deeper appreciation for marine conservation.
Summer Events and Festivals in Los Cabos
The summer events calendar is led by the Los Cabos Open, Latin America's premier professional surfing competition, returning in June to Zippers Beach in San José del Cabo. Past events have drawn World Surf League professionals and turned the beach into a full celebration with live music and food stands serving Baja specialties.
Weekly recurring events keep things going all season. Events calendar listings include Gran Fiesta Mexicana every Thursday at The Office on the Beach, along with live jazz, rooftop DJ sets, and hotel music residencies. The Visit Los Cabos calendar is the most reliable source for confirmed dates.
Why Low Season Means a Better Trip
Summer is Los Cabos' low season. Same-day reservations at popular restaurants become realistic. Beach chairs at Médano Beach are easy to find. Our snorkeling trips feel more spacious, and the places that can feel high-energy during peak season settle into a more relaxed rhythm.
For families or couples seeking a more intimate atmosphere, summer's quieter pace means fewer logistical details and more time to enjoy the destination.

How to Plan Your Days and What to Pack
Schedule active options like snorkeling, ATV rides, and market visits during morning hours or late afternoon. Use early afternoons for pool time, indoor dining, or air-conditioned rest.
What to bring
- Sun-protective clothing, lightweight, long-sleeved, and light-colored
- Wide-brim hat and UV-blocking sunglasses
- A light packable rain jacket for August and September
- Water shoes or non-slip sandals
- Electrolyte supplements
- Aloe vera gel for sun recovery
- A light jacket for air-conditioned restaurants and transport
For August and September travelers, trip insurance covering weather disruptions is a practical addition.
Start Planning Your Summer in Cabo
Los Cabos rewards visitors in every season. But Cabo in summer has its own character: warm ocean water you don't want to leave, afternoon showers that clear as fast as they arrive, and evenings that cool just enough to make a desert campfire feel right.
This is a version of Los Cabos that most visitors never see, and it's the one we know best. We're based in the Marina district, and we built our tours around helping you get beyond the resort zone and into the parts of Cabo that feel most alive in summer. Your summer tours are ready when you are.
